How the day is worked out

The animal of the day follows the twelve-day cycle of the Chinese Zodiac app: each day the next animal rules, from Rat to Pig, then it starts again. The element changes every two days in the order Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.

Your reading comes from two things: how your animal gets on with the day's (harmony, clash or neutral, from the compatibility table) and how your element relates to the day's in the five-element cycle. It is the same reading the app shows that morning.

Note: the traditional Chinese calendar also gives every day its own stem-and-branch pair (干支), which does not match this cycle. This is entertainment, not a prediction.
